thursday evening meditation

Every Thursday evening at 5:30 pm we gather to meditate together. We practice a kind of seated meditation called zazen which encourages ‘shikantaza’. Shikantaza is a type of meditation that brings Awareness to all that arises without discrimination. After seated meditation, we do a short walking meditation (kinhin) and engage in a discussion of Buddhist teachings. You are welcome for all or part of the meditation and discussion period. Chairs and cushions are available.

Newcomers can join us at 5:00 pm for a welcome that includes an introduction to basic forms such as how to enter the zendo and take a place; how to walk kinhin; and meditation tips if desired. If you have questions, please feel free to contact Ian via phone or text at 575-741-1500.
